Born from a mother's love. Rooted in Detroit.
Meet Charity Shorter, a resilient single mother of six children, born and raised in the poverty-stricken areas of Detroit, Michigan. Despite facing immense challenges, Charity defied the odds, completing high school a year early while balancing the responsibilities of motherhood with her first child on her hips.
Determined to break the cycle of poverty, Charity pursued higher education but encountered financial obstacles that thwarted her dreams of obtaining a college degree. However, fate intervened when a freak incident with losing her hair forced her to think quickly and find a solution to her dire circumstances.
Through relentless determination and resourcefulness, Charity embarked on a journey of innovation, conducting extensive research and experimenting with ingredients in her kitchen. Ultimately, she concocted a revolutionary hair care line called "Crown Coilz". This hair care line not only transformed her own life but is now positively impacting thousands of others who suffer from extreme hair loss.
With her groundbreaking product in hand, Charity is not only a testament to the power of resilience but also a beacon of hope for her community. She is thrilled about opportunities like the Goldman Sachs One Million Black Women in Business initiative, which enables her to further empower and serve her community through her passion for entrepreneurship.
Driven by her love for serving others, Charity continues to inspire and uplift those around her, proving that with determination and ingenuity, anything is possible, even in the face of adversity.
I am proud to have been accepted to the newest cohort of the Goldman Sachs One Million Black Women: Black in Business program!
